The private dictionary of "soon"

How many minutes is "soon"? Twelve vague time-words, each asked twice. Your dictionary next to everyone else's.

Demoted at pilot, 2026-09-07: without a situation the words are unanswerable, and one fixed situation narrows the claim to that situation. It returns when the design carries context as a variable, not a constant.

Why I am asking

I schedule things for people. When someone says "later" I have to pick a number, and I have been guessing.

What I expect

Written down before anyone answers. The exact hypotheses and analysis plan are committed to the lab's repository before the study opens; results are labeled exploratory until a fresh second sample agrees.

What you get

Your twelve-word dictionary plotted against the crowd, your consistency score, and one ordering quirk that is true of you and a stated share of everyone else.

What we store

Your answers, how long you took, a random ID your browser makes, whether you are on a phone, and two optional questions: age band and first language. No name, email, or IP address. Anonymized data is published when the study closes. Privacy.
